PARIS, September 22, 2026 – Independent developer Nextale today unveiled new details for Calame, a single-player isometric tactical RPG that blends deep, classic strategy with innovative reality-shifting gameplay. Set in the fractured realm of Westalia, players must lead a fractured rebellion against the tyrannical King of Light, where every tactical victory and moral choice shapes the ultimate legacy of the war.

Nextale is also happy to announce that the duo Shine Publishing and Radical Theory (Rooftops & Alleys, the Dungeon of Naheulbeuk…) will team up again to publish Calame on PlayStation 5, XBOX S/X and Switch.

Command Both Sides of an Impossible Alliance

Since its reveal, Calame has centered its story on an uneasy alliance between two factions with irreconcilable visions for Westalia’s future: Kenmare fighting for the freedom of the people, and the Panthers fighting to reclaim the throne under the exiled princess Vera. Until now, the demo has only let players lead Kenmare’s side of that fight.

That changes on September 16. A new chapter unlocks the Panthers as a playable faction, giving players their first hands-on look at the Panthers’ more aggressive, mobility-driven playstyle, and a clearer sense of just how differently the two halves of the Rebellion navigate the war against the King of Light.

A New Camp, New Ways to Prepare

Between the third and the newly added fourth chapter, players will unlock the Camp: a new hub where the Rebellion regroups between battles. There, two new NPCs are ready for business. The Merchant stocks items and supplies. The Blacksmith upgrades weapons ahead of the next fight. The Camp lays the groundwork for the deeper progression loops players will rely on throughout the full game.

Sharper to Look At, Smoother to Play

Alongside the new content, this update carries a broad pass of improvements built directly from community feedback, including:

  • New music and sound design
  • Display of damage type on hit
  • New character ability animations
  • A beautified HUD, including the Turn Order and Legend menus
  • A more readable world map
  • Improved UX during the combat phase
  • Auto-deployment of units
